Black Tie Gala, Parades & More in The Big Easy

Be a part of krewe royalty at an extravagant formal ball & enjoy spirited parades, mask-making & so much more on this Platinum DreamTrip during legendary Mardi Gras (guests 21+ only).

About Your Trip

In lively New Orleans, fun and excitement are always just around the corner — it’s no surprise laissez le bon temps rouler (“let the good times roll”) has long been the city’s rallying cry, especially when it comes to Carnival season. This special Platinum DreamTrip for guests ages 21 years and older lets you experience the best of the festival, the most celebratory and amazing time of year in The Big Easy.

First, you’ll kick off the Mardi Gras festivities at Blake Hotel New Orleans, where you’ll watch amazing krewes parade past you from your prime viewing spot on the hotel’s balcony. On Lundi Gras (the eve of Fat Tuesday), you’ll attend Orpheuscapade, a spectacular formal ball hosted by Krewe of Orpheus. As an exclusive guest of the "krewe royalty," you’ll need to dress the part by wearing a gown or tuxedo — after all, this is a strictly black-tie affair! Mingle with the other "nobles" as you watch the Orpheus Parade floats roll out on their parade route — but don’t worry, you’ll see them again at the end when the entire procession enters the convention center! Until then, eat, drink, dance to incredible live music and socialize to your heart’s content. Once the krewe returns, be sure to catch some throws to take home as souvenirs as the floats pass by! Afterward, all the members of Krewe of Orpheus will join in the Orpheuscapade festivities, increasing the merriment into a blowout party that’ll end in the wee hours of the morning.

Before this gala extravaganza, you can get in the mood with all things Mardi Gras — floats, masks, king cake and more — with a visit to Mardi Gras World. You’ll get a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the art of float-making and see the elaborate floats and colorful props used in world-renowned Mardi Gras parades. Afterward, put your creativity to work to create your own Mardi Gras-inspired mask — then show it off at a fun get-together with your fellow DreamTrippers.

Take advantage of your leisure time to explore the city at your own pace, visiting popular sites such as the lovely mansions in the prosperous Garden District. Must-see Bourbon Street and the vibrant French Quarter offer countless delights — talented street performers and fortune tellers to charming art galleries and world-class seafood restaurants and so much more! While street musicians can be found at various spots in the city, Jackson Square is the daily site of one of the best free shows in town, especially in the daytime.

What we love:
• Since 1947, Kern Studios, housed at Mardi Gras World, has created floats for Mardi Gras and other parades or events all over the world. Artisans in the studio create floats for more than 30 Mardi Gras parades annually!
• The Krewe of Orpheus was founded in 1993 by Harry Connick, Jr. and others as a music-oriented social organization (or “krewe”). Today, it’s a very popular "super krewe" with 1,400 members and more than 35 floats, including the legendary Leviathan, Dolly Trolley and Smokey Mary.
• The official Mardi Gras colors are purple (for justice), gold (for power) and green (for faith).
• To maximize your enjoyment, download the DreamTrips™ app to access DreamTrips Local — then earn points on dining, entertainment, spa experiences & more at select spots recommended by DreamTrippers just like you!
